At Least 10 1/2 Years
Before the End

THE LAST OF THE LAST DAYS is referred to when Jesus said, “This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled” (Matthew 24:34). The generation that sees the fulfillment of Matthew 24’s events and the rise of the Antichrist would be the generation that will witness the return of Christ and the earth’s last seven years. A generation is the normal life span given to a person, which is seventy years. (Psalm 90:10) Seventy years added to the year Israel regained control over Jerusalem would bring the timeframe for the fulfillment of prophetic events between 1967 and 2037. This doesn’t mean we have until 2037, but that at some point within this timeframe, the final events will be complete, the Antichrist will arrive, and Jesus will return.

As of this writing, we know the earth has more than ten and a half years before its end. There will be three and a half years of peace with Israel due to a confirming of a treaty with them for seven years. After three and a half years, the treaty will be broken and the great tribulation by the Antichrist will take place for three and a half years. After that, Christ will release His judgments upon the earth for another three and a half years. This adds up to ten and a half years after the treaty is signed.

After the Antichrist has arrived and the mark of the beast is mandated, we then know there are only seven years left to our present age. Here’s how this looks in chart form:

Having said this, let’s revisit Psalm 90:10:

“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”

Note that the seventy-year limitation to a generation has some flexibility. If a person has good health, they could live to be eighty or longer. It seems the arrival of Antichrist could be delayed, but only within the time span allotted one generation. Do I think it’s probable that we could go beyond 2037? No, I think we are long passed the possibility of repentance. Do I think it’s possible that we could go beyond 2037? Yes, but it would take a miracle, and that miracle is dependent on God’s people returning to a relationship with Him.
